Football

A couple of weekends ago we headed up to Denton, America for our annual North Texas football game. We would love to get to more games but it seems that life gets in the way. So when the football schedule is released we start looking at what weekends we can go and plan it out a few months in advance. This year it happened to be in November that we were able to get to a game and it happened to be an afternoon game instead of an evening game which worked way better for us so the boys weren't getting to bed so late. Jacob was super excited about this game. He has been asking to go see Scrappy for a while. Josh and I are hoping his love of Scrappy and going to the games leads to him going to North Texas for college. Owen, of course, had no idea, but we were excited because it was his first North Texas game. It is so much fun to take the boys to games and walk through campus and see all the places we spent time when we were at school and see all the cool new buildings and parking garages and the cool bridge to get over the highway and to the stadium. I can't wait until the boys get older and are both excited to go. Hopefully one day we will be able to get season tickets and make it to all of the games (before both boys are playing there)!

7 months

I cannot believe Owen is 7 months old. But today he is. This has been another month full of fun. Every month I feel like there is just so much stuff he is doing that is making the time go by even faster. This month, he has gotten faster at crawling and can now crawl on the hardwoods so he can follow us where ever we go now, he has been eating solids and in the last week or so he has really been getting the hang of it, he has started saying mama (at times over and over and over all day), he pulls up to his knees and to standing, he is sleeping in his crib most of the night (although some night still ends up in our bed). The night daylight savings ended he actually slept through the night for the first time in a long time. He has also been much more interested in toys lately and will grab what he wants from his basket of toys.

He also  had his first cold this month. Poor kid was congested for a week and just felt like crap for about 5 days. with a fever for 2 or 3 days. We had to hold him upright to sleep for a few nights and one of those days I carried him in the carrier almost all day. Thankfully, he is back to his sweet, happy, and demanding self now! Just waiting for the cough to go away completely now.

First Food

Since he is growing up, Owen has started eating solids. We started right when he turned 6 months. We wanted to start with a veggie and something easy to eat, so we picked avocado. Owen was not thrilled with that decision. He ended up with more on himself and the highchair than actually in his mouth. Actually that first night I'm not sure any actually got into his mouth. By the 3rd day of it though he was getting some in his mouth while he played with it, but wasn't making an effort to eat it because he didn't really like it. We did sweet potatoes next and once he got that into his mouth he loved it. He still doesn't do a great job of getting food into his mouth all the time, but he does much better with the things he likes.

Halloween 2013

We had a great Halloween this year. We had plans with our neighborhood friends to get together for dinner (we usually get together on Thursdays for Thirsty Thursdays, so we just did dinner this week). Everyone brought something and we had a ton of food. After visiting and eating dinner we got all the kids ready to trick or treat. Jacob was so excited this year. He was running to get to the houses, we had to remind him to slow down many times (and to not run through people's yards). But he had so much fun. We walked all down our street and around our section of our neighborhood. Owen rode in the wagon which Josh had made into a firetruck. Owen made it about half of the time before he got hungry, so Josh and I switched out and I came home to hand out candy and Josh took Jacob the rest of the time. The boys looked adorable and they got so many compliments. It was such a fun night!
