Catching up

I have clearly been negligent in posting real updates lately! I'm not sure what exactly we have been doing, but we have been busy constantly for the past few weeks.

So since it has been a while, lets start with Thanksgiving. We headed to the Morrow's as usual and enjoyed a day of friends and family. We also let everyone else in on Owen's sex and name. Jake had a blast playing with Aunts Nikki, Chrissy and Michelle. He would pick one at a time to take him around on treasure hunts or play cars with him. The next day we spent the day decorating our house for Christmas. We put up 4 different trees this year, our big one in the living room, a fun one for Jake in the playroom, our small intial tree on the table in the living room and we got Jake a small tree for his room. After a long day of decorating we headed downtown to our city's Christmas festivities. Josh, Jake and I stood in line to ride the train while Grammy and grandma did some shopping on the square. Next year we will have to get there earlier so we can do more, we ended up waiting in line for an hour! We had pictures that Sunday finally. We had to reschedule since it rained them out a couple weeks before. It was a bit windy, but we got some good pictures!

Since Thanksgiving we have just been busy. Josh has had rugby games on the weekends, I have been working a decent amount (not a lot but all of my times are full now) and on the same days that Josh has rugby, so Grammy has been spending Saturdays with Jake when rugby and work overlap. Jake seems to not mind that a bit, he basically just tells us to go when she is here! Jake and I have been doing some painting and lots of running around doing stuff.

Jake loves singing Christmas songs, but trying to catch him on video has proven to be quite a challenge since he just wants to see himself on it.

This past weekend Grammy's sisters were all in town. Jake was loving all of his aunts! He was such a ham trying to make everyone laugh and making himself laugh in the process. He is such a goof.

We went and visited Santa a couple of weeks ago. Jake loved Santa and walked right up to him and introduced himself and hopped up on his lap. We got such a cute picture and he talked to Santa and told him what he wanted. I love that he has never been afraid of him and we have all cute pictures of him smiling with Santa. Hopefully Owen follows that lead!

This week we have been working on finishing our Christmas baking, Jake and I are going to finish our sugar cookies this afternoon. And the rest of the weekend we will be finishing getting ready for Christmas.

Maternity clothes? Maternity everything unless I am just hanging out at home
Stretch marks? Nope
Sleep: Still sleeping well, unless we get a middle of the night wake up call from Jake in which case I have been unable to fall back asleep because I am wide awake.
Best moment this week: We decided on bedding for Owen! (We are so behind in the nursery planning department...oh and we got Owen's stocking and I finally bought something for Owen. We are mostly going to need newborn, 0-3 and a few 3-6 month things since he will be born in warm weather and there aren't many warm weather things out right now so I had been waiting. But I found a cute onesie that he needs (although long sleeves so I had to get 9 months). I can't wait until spring stuff starts coming out!
Movement: All the time
Food cravings: No real cravings this week
Labor Signs: Nope
What I miss: Nothing this week
What I am looking forward to: Christmas!
Differences from 1st pregnancy: We are much further behind in doing anything to get ready for Owen. I guess it helps that we have most stuff that we absolutely need.

20 Weeks...Halfway!

Well technically halfway. I am not expecting him to hang out in there past when Jake was  born, so we are considering this pregnancy more than halfway over. That is slightly scary! Big Boo Boo

Jake got his first really big boo boo today. He was playing in the child care at the gym and fell into the corner of the window and hit his head. They came running to get me and he had a nasty gash on his head, but they had gotten the bleeding under control at least. But dang there was blood everywhere. Poor kid couldn't figure out why his hands were covered in blood but didn't hurt. After we got him all cleaned up I looked at it again and it was pretty small, but wide. I figured we would just put a bandaid on it for a while and it would be good in a week or so. But when we got home and I cleaned it again it started bleeding again, so Josh and I decided I should at least call the dr's office and get their opinion. The nurse said since it was wide to go ahead and bring him in to let the dr look at it and at least put some glue on it. So we headed to the dr to get it checked out. They got us in with the first available person who happened to be the nurse practitioner. She checked it out and was trying to decide if glue would hold it or it would need a stitch. I begged for the glue since I didn't want Jake to have to go through the trauma of getting stitched for one stitch. So she grabbed our normal pedi who looked at it and said, yep let's get some glue on there. I was thrilled with that and I love our pedi!

So 10 minutes later he was all glued up and ready to go. Of course this happened just a few days before we have family pictures taken. I guess this year they will truly capture our life at the time, gash and purple glue on his forehead!

Halloween

I LOVE the holidays right now. I mean, I have always loved holidays, but they are just getting better and better now that Jake gets them and the anticipation and he has so much fun!

Last night we headed out around 6, we were going to go down to the end of our street where they had a bounce house set up, but it took us a little bit to get ready so we just skipped that part. We stopped at some of our friends house to see when they were leaving to go Trick or Treating. We ended up hanging out with them and going Trick or Treating with them. Jake and I were out from about 6:45-8 then headed home and Josh took him out for another 20 minutes. We hit a ton of houses and got so much candy that I had to empty Jake's bucket twice while we were out then again when we got home so he could go with Josh. But he just loved it. He was so excited to be Buzz Lightyear and told everyone he was Buzz Lightyear and did his "To infinity and beyond!" He got so many compliments on how cute he was.

Of course, our evening was not complete without a moment of panic for me. We were about halfway between our house and our friends houses (we had dropped them off there and worked our way home) when Jake announced to the man that opened the door of the house we were at that he had to go potty. No trick or treat, just "I have to go potty!" His costume was one a one piece with his wings over that and we were just too far to run in either direction and I didn't know if it was I have to go now or I kinda feel like I might need to go soon. So this very nice man, while laughing, asked if we wanted to use his bathroom. It was so awkward! But what other choice did I have at that point?! So inside some strangers house we went and got the costume off as quick as we could. We made it just fine, but dang that made for an interesting few minutes. And a good story that we can laugh about.

Jake has been so proud of all of his "treats" that he has told everyone about them.

Pumpkin Patch (x2)

We love going to the pumpkin patch to play and pick out our pumpkin. This year Jake got to go twice. He and I went to a small pumpkin patch close to our house with our Thirsty Thursday group to play, then we all went the one we have been to the past 2 years on Sunday to play some more and actually get a pumpkin. He had a blast with the big pumpkins this year. And we ended up getting one that weighs just as much as he does! He also got 3 smaller pumpkins that he just had to have. We took a ride on the hayride, which about half way through Jake tells us he needs to go potty. Ahh, I love that he is potty trained, but dang sometimes it makes things a little difficult. (Fortunately, he was able to hold it until after the hayride and got to the bathroom no problem) He was also so obsessed with the bounce houses that we had to convience him to pick out pumpkins first because he would've never gotten out of that if we'd let him go there first! He was very side when his turn in the bounce house was over.

We stopped for some frozen yogurt on the way home because it was close to 90* while we were at the pumpkin patch and they don't make short sleeved Halloween shirts for kids so Jake had long sleeves on (we changed him when we left so he wasn't stuck in that long). Crazy Texas weather didn't get the memo that it is supposed to be Fall all through October. Thankfully we did finally have a good cold front come through this week so it has been nice and cool this weekend and it is supposed to stay that way through the rest of the week.

12 Weeks

Not much going on this week. Jake and I went to a bounce house place with some friends on Monday and he loved it, so we are thinking of doing that for his birthday this year. And yesterday Jake and I decorated the house for fall. He loves helping me decorate and I now have random old fall decorations in random places throughout the house. I can't wait to decorate for Christmas and see what happens there! I also had a doctor's appointment this week. Everything looks great and baby was just jumping up and down the whole time. It is so fun to see, but it is cool to see Jake getting to see the baby too!

How far along? 12 weeks

Denton, America

We headed to Denton a couple of weekends ago for a day full of North Texas fun. Grammy came with us this year to help with Jake and go to a football game in the new stadium. We started the day early and headed to the bookstore to get Jake a new North Texas shirt. (And somehow he also ended up a fun football too). We headed to my alumni meet next. There weren't a lot of alumni that were older, so I didn't know many of them. This may have been my last time to swim in an alumni meet. Jake had fun wandering around occasionally and cheering. Once we were done there we headed to a park to eat lunch , then we dropped Josh off to warm up for his game. Grammy and I took Jake to have some ice cream at Beth Marie's (best ice cream place ever) then drove around for a while so Jake could sleep some, then headed back to watch Josh's game. Well Jake played at the playground more than watched.

Once we were all nice and sweaty from the rugby game, we headed back to campus to get some dinner before the game. We stopped at a new resturant that was all macaroni and cheese! Yum. Then we walked ALL the way (it had to be at least to 2.5 miles) to the stadium. Jake actually did really great and walked a good portion of it. We didn't take the stroller so he had to walk a ton, but he did get carried some and a few piggy back rides. He loved the football game. He really got into cheering and looking for Scrappy. We also had a really nice family sitting in front of us and Jake was all about talking to them! He apparently impressed the lady so much with his cuteness, she went down to the store and bought him a foam claw. So nice! He finally got to see Scrappy and was so excited! (Although this year's Scrappy is not nearly as good as last year's.) He made it through the whole game though and did great. He did get carried all the way back to the car and also had his first peeing in the grass experience. We got almost to the car when he said he had to go potty, of course all of the buildings on campus are closed so no access to a bathroom. So we quickly found a hidden place for him to go. I was surprised that he went without any hesitation! Good thing he is a boy! It made it nice and simple and clean. And with that, we headed home. It was a LONG day, but we had fun. Jake can't wait to go back to a football game and asks about it almost every day. I love it!
