20 Weeks...Halfway!

Well technically halfway. I am not expecting him to hang out in there past when Jake was  born, so we are considering this pregnancy more than halfway over. That is slightly scary! We have to wait until after Christmas to start working on the nursery, but hopefully that will get done quickly since all we need to do is get rid of furniture and paint in there.

How far along? 20 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: +4 lbs...well there we go
Maternity clothes? Maternity everything unless I am just hanging out at home
Stretch marks? Nope
Sleep:  Still sleeping well
Best moment this week: Getting all of our Christmas decorations up
Movement: Lots...kid is going to move just like his big brother!
Food cravings: Ramen noodles
Labor Signs: Nope
What I miss: Nothing this week, I enjoy being pregnant so I really don't miss much
What I am looking forward to: Picking out bedding and figuring what all we are going to need for Owen!
Differences from 1st pregnancy: Feeling like someone kicked me in the crotch syndrome has hit much earlier this time
Milestones: officially halfway!

"Once upon a time...."

This is a story about Jake, as told by Jake at our dinner table last night.

"Once upon a time....there was a Jake...and he was eating dinner...and was just eating the cheese...and he was playing with his sweet potato...and he spilled his milk."

Big Boo Boo

Jake got his first really big boo boo today. He was playing in the child care at the gym and fell into the corner of the window and hit his head. They came running to get me and he had a nasty gash on his head, but they had gotten the bleeding under control at least. But dang there was blood everywhere. Poor kid couldn't figure out why his hands were covered in blood but didn't hurt. After we got him all cleaned up I looked at it again and it was pretty small, but wide. I figured we would just put a bandaid on it for a while and it would be good in a week or so. But when we got home and I cleaned it again it started bleeding again, so Josh and I decided I should at least call the dr's office and get their opinion. The nurse said since it was wide to go ahead and bring him in to let the dr look at it and at least put some glue on it. So we headed to the dr to get it checked out. They got us in with the first available person who happened to be the nurse practitioner. She checked it out and was trying to decide if glue would hold it or it would need a stitch. I begged for the glue since I didn't want Jake to have to go through the trauma of getting stitched for one stitch. So she grabbed our normal pedi who looked at it and said, yep let's get some glue on there. I was thrilled with that and I love our pedi!

So 10 minutes later he was all glued up and ready to go. Of course this happened just a few days before we have family pictures taken. I guess this year they will truly capture our life at the time, gash and purple glue on his forehead!

Halloween

I LOVE the holidays right now. I mean, I have always loved holidays, but they are just getting better and better now that Jake gets them and the anticipation and he has so much fun!

Last night we headed out around 6, we were going to go down to the end of our street where they had a bounce house set up, but it took us a little bit to get ready so we just skipped that part. We stopped at some of our friends house to see when they were leaving to go Trick or Treating. We ended up hanging out with them and going Trick or Treating with them. Jake and I were out from about 6:45-8 then headed home and Josh took him out for another 20 minutes. We hit a ton of houses and got so much candy that I had to empty Jake's bucket twice while we were out then again when we got home so he could go with Josh. But he just loved it. He was so excited to be Buzz Lightyear and told everyone he was Buzz Lightyear and did his "To infinity and beyond!" He got so many compliments on how cute he was.

Of course, our evening was not complete without a moment of panic for me. We were about halfway between our house and our friends houses (we had dropped them off there and worked our way home) when Jake announced to the man that opened the door of the house we were at that he had to go potty. No trick or treat, just "I have to go potty!" His costume was one a one piece with his wings over that and we were just too far to run in either direction and I didn't know if it was I have to go now or I kinda feel like I might need to go soon. So this very nice man, while laughing, asked if we wanted to use his bathroom. It was so awkward! But what other choice did I have at that point?! So inside some strangers house we went and got the costume off as quick as we could. We made it just fine, but dang that made for an interesting few minutes. And a good story that we can laugh about.

Jake has been so proud of all of his "treats" that he has told everyone about them.
