Happy Birthday sweet boy! 3 years ago we welcomed you into the world and you became our world. You amaze us everyday with the new things you learn and come up with. We love your sense of humor and love laughing with (and sometimes at) you daily! You bring so much fun and excitement to our world. Even at your most stubborn and frustrating moments, I love seeing what new excuse or idea you are going to come up with. We can't imagine not having you just as you are in our lives and we can't wait to see what a wonderful big brother you are going to be! Love you big boy!
Jake's 3rd birthday party was today. Apparently he is turning 3 soon, I am in denial that we will have a 3 year old. I mean really, a 3 year old?! How did he get to be 3?! A 3 year old and a new baby?! Are we even old enough to have 2 kids? Sometimes I just can't fathom that we are. Of course, I wouldn't trade any of it for anything, but still, wow.
So back to the party. We had decided to have it someplace other than our house this year since we couldn't count on the kids being able to go outside and they aren't quite old enough to do party activities or games so it would just be crazy with not much to do for 8-12 kids. We picked a bounce house place, basically a place that is just a bunch of bounce houses, provides all the tableware, party attendents, clean up, etc. Jake loves bounce houses so this worked. The place has 2 rooms of bounce houses, so we got to spend 40 minutes in the first room, 40 minutes in the second room, then we had 40 minutes in the party room for cake and presents. Jake was running from the moment we got into the first room. He loved playing with all of his friends and lots of the dads (and a couple moms and one grammy) got in on all the action. The kids all played well together and I think everyone had fun! Jake was a sweaty mess by the time we were done playing. We headed in to eat some cake and open presents. We had purposely ordered a small cake for just Jake so that when he blew out the candles he didn't spit all over the cake, as he often spits when he tries to blow out candles. Of course today after everyone sang to him (and he sang to himself) he blew out all the candles in one blow with no spitting. I think he still enjoyed his cake though! He took his sweet time opening presents but loved everything he got. He was also in love with his Buzz Lightyear balloon. He was still going wild when it was time to leave and all the way home.
Overall I say it was a success!
(I am working on uploading all the pictures, I will add some tomorrow!)

We had a fabulous Christmas this year. We headed to Grammy's on Christmas Eve to head to church and then do our annual Christmas and Christmas trivia with the Morrow's. Jake did such a good job at church considering we had to get there 45 min early to make sure we got seats and we had just been to church the day before. He kept people entertained as he usually does and sang (at at least attempted to sing) along with the Christmas songs. As always we had a blast with Christmas trivia and Jake got to open his first presents that night. It is amazing how much better he is at it this year. But he still loved the boxes that presents came in. Silly boy. He was so tired he just passed out almost as soon as we got in the car to come home.
Christmas morning we got up and Jake opened all of his presents from Santa. He did pretty good this year. He got his own camera so he can quit stealing mine! He loves to take pictures of people and his blankie and his toys. He also got some games, lots of new trains, some new cars, blocks, and books. After we finished opening those presents we hung out and put a few together while we waited for Grammy and grandma to arrive for breakfast and another round of presents. Shortly after we finished opening those presents snow started rolling in. It had been rainy all night and morning, but we started seeing little flecks of white mixed in. Jake was really excited for snow. He had been asking for snow for a while so it was perfect. It kept snowing the rest of the day and we got close to 5 inches! We went out and played in it while it was still snowing, so cold, but Jake loved it. Grammy ended up staying the night since the roads weren't great after all the snow and rain. We all just hung out the next day watching movies, playing with new toys, playing in the snow some more, and working on our yearly puzzle. It was nice and probably the one of the few days over the break that Josh and I just sat and relaxed.
I had a doctor's appt that week which went well. Just a normal check up. Although she did comment about how much weight I had gained since I had last seen her, but when she checked she said total I was right where I should be, so no big deal. This month I have the glucose screening, yuck. She also said that after this month's appt we will be going every 2 weeks. Whoa, how did that happen?! At my 30 week appt we will have another u/s to see how he is growing and do one more check on everything.
We went to a friends house for a kid friendly New Year's party. It is great, we headed over there around 5, ate, talked, kids played, and just hung out until about 8:30-9 then headed home. Such a wonderful way to do New Year's with kids.
That last week Josh had off we were busy getting stuff to paint and then painting (well, Josh painted I kept Jake out of the house) Owen's room. So that means the nursery is officially started. We picked out fabric for curtains and are moving the rest of the furniture into his room this weekend so Jake can get his new furniture! Progress, yay!
Now that we are all caught up on that, pictures.
