Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to my wonderful mother and all the other mother's out there! I have been so blessed to have such a wonderful example of what a mother should be. And I have been given the opportunity to show that kind of love to our little boy.

We are headed to my mom's to celebrate (and plant flowers) today. I got my awesome present this morning, a necklace with Jake's name and his birthstone. I love it.

My birthday present from my mom...I never knew how excited I could be to get a stroller or run!

15 month appointment

So apparently our son is now 15 months old, which meant another trip to the doctor for a check up and some vaccines.

So 15 month stats:

Weight: 24lbs 2oz     44th percentile
Height:  31.5"           62nd percentile
Head:    18.75"         63rd percentile

He clearly had a major growth spurt in the last 3 months! And since I haven't done it in a while:

Jake's new talents
  • He says 25 words (and seems to be adding to this regularly now)
  • Runs around, walks backwards, dances in a circle while stomping his feet
  • Copies what we say or do (or what Cosmo says)
  • Makes hilarious new expressions
  • Is very opinionated
  • Helps takes his clothes off then puts them in the hamper
  • Goes to the pantry and asks for snacks
  • Climbs into small chairs, on the ottoman, in and out of the landry basket
  • Follows directions (sometimes)
Not much else going on here right now so here are some pictures.

He was so proud of himself for climbing into the dump truck by himself

"Ohhhhh"

Happy Easter!

We had a fabulous Easter this year! It was so much fun with Jake being old enough to do stuff this year. He is at such a fun age and just loves going and going! Grams spent the night and morning with us so she could go to church and hang out a little bit. Jake went through his Easter basket first thing this morning and it was so cute to see him pull everything out and figure it out. He got some toddler crayons, a swim diaper, a new cup, and a few other things along with goldfish and graham crackers.

After we ate some breakfast, which was made a little difficult because Jake couldn't have the eggs so we had to make sure we had other stuff, we headed to church. Of course we had to get there super early so we made sure we got a seat. We also went to a later mass than normal and it was right at Jake's normal nap time. It was a struggle to get him through mass in a good mood. Thankfully there were three of us which helped a lot.

We headed to the Morrow's for another Easter egg hunt and Easter dinner. Jake wasn't as into the Easter egg hunt today, I think he was still tired. Instead of picking up eggs he just wanted them opened and once they were opened he just wanted to close them again. So we didn't make it very far with the hunting part. It was great to hang out with the Morrows, Jake always gets spoiled when we head over there!

Check out our big boy!

We had a busy day today! Our community Easter egg hunt was this morning, so we headed over to the park to participate in that. We tried to go last year to see what it was all about but we got there late and it was already over. So we got there early this year. It was great! They had an Easter bunny hopping (seriously, they hopped around the park). Jake wasn't too sure what to think of it at first.

They had the eggs laid out in 4 different sections for different age groups so the little ones didn't get run over. There were a lot of kids in Jake's age group, 0-2. It was cute to see them walk around picking up the eggs. Once Jake figured out what he was doing and where he needed to go we had a hard time keeping him behind the rope until they let them go.

He did really well walking around, picking up eggs, and putting them in his basket...

until he had about 7 eggs in there, then

he sat down to inspect his goodies.

We wanted to get a picture of Jake with the Easter bunny and he didn't seem to have any problems, but was still a little confused about the giant bunny holding him.

This afternoon we took Jake to get his haircut again. If you lost count, this is haircut number 3 for "the-child-whose-hair-grows-insanely-fast." His hair was, once again, in his eyes and ears and all sorts of unruly in the back. So we decided it was time for a real haircut, not just a trim. (Side note: It is freaking expensive to get kids haircut!) Jake did great and sat still for the majority of the time.

He looks like such a big boy with his hair so short. Such a cute little boy though!

And just for fun, bonus pictures from the past couple of weeks.

Texas Spring Tradition

In true Texas tradition we took Jake out for his first pictures in the bluebonnets today! Although we deviated from the traditional location on the side of the highway (so not safe!) and opted for a field by a football stadium in Garland. There were a ton of other people there too. It was a gorgeous day, but so windy! It was blowing us over when we were trying to take pictures.

Hair Cut

We had another hair cut day at our house yesterday, but this time it was me that got my hair cut. It was about time too! I had about 15(!) inches cut off. That is the most I have ever had cut off at one time. It is a little short but hopefully it will grow quickly. I am donating to Beautiful Lengths this time. Last time I did Locks of Love.

This is the best before picture I have

 Bye bye ponytail
