6 month appointment

Owen's 6 month appointment was on Monday. The doctor said he is ahead with all his milestones and growing great. He got 4 vaccines though. Poor dude was not happy about that. But Jacob and I both got our flu vaccines too (Josh gets his at work). Josh had the day off so we went and had Owen's 6 month pictures and pictures of the boys in their costumes done. We were supposed to have them done last Friday but we ended up with a couple of sick boys. It worked out to do them when Josh was home though.

So Owen's stats.

Length:  28.25 inches   93%
Weight: 20.2 lbs
Head circumference: 18.25   97%

He has slowed down on weight because he is moving so much/all the time, but is still a big boy.

Museum Day

We made plans to go to th state fair this year. We missed it last year but the year before we went and Jake loved it. So Josh took last Tuesday off of work so we could go when it wasn't super crowded. We had been watching the weather and it was originally supposed to rain on Monday and there was something like a 10% chance of rain on Tuesday. But as it got closer that number kept going up. Two days before they said it would just be spotty showers that day so we figured we would go and just do inside stuff during the rain. But the day before the weatherman said a solid line of storms would be moving through and it would rain for a good part of the day. Sad face. So we decided that it would be a better idea to head to the Perot Museum instead. We had been wanting to go but just ran out of time this summer.

We took the train down to Dallas and walked a few blocks to the museum. It ended up being really great. It was so interactive and Jake could touch almost everything there which was great. We went through the dinosaurs, space, earth, human body, and how things work exhibits before heading down to the Children's museum. Jake LOVED the children's part. It had so much stuff to play with. A running water table, campground, farmers market, art area, and a play place of Dallas. He spent about an hour and a half playing in there. They also had a baby/toddler area so Owen got to get down and play on the floor for a bit too. We had a really great time there, it's too bad we aren't closer to it. Hopefully we will be able to go again soon!

6 months

I feel like I just did one of these posts. Time needs to slow down. Owen is half a year old. Awesome and sad all at the same time. He is getting so big and doing so much new stuff and we are just starting to get to even more big things. Crawling, playing with toys, playing with Jake, trying to pull up, sitting, and as of today starting to eat food (or at least attempting). He is such a happy little dude. He smiles and laughs and thinks his reflection and Jacob are the funniest things ever. He is so lovey and gives very affectionate hugs and kisses and loves to snuggle. He still sleeps in our bed most of the night and still refuses a pacifier, but he officially takes his naps in his crib. He has his 6 month well check this week so we will find out just how big our big boy is now.

Crawling.

Well I was hoping we had until closer to Christmas before he was really on the move but Owen has decided he needs to keep up with Brother. He spend a few weeks rolling, then a few days on his hands and knees rocking, and now he is army crawling. He usually takes his time but if you put a remote or a cell phone on the floor he sure does manage to get there quickly and efficiently. I am hoping when Christmas comes around he is as uninterested in pulling the tree down as Jacob was.

Both boys are all ready for Halloween. We got Jacobs costume a couple of weeks ago and I finished making Owen's costume today. They are going to be so adorable. Now Josh just needs to convert the wagon to a fire truck and we will be set. Jake is so excited for Halloween this year. I love how excited he gets for the holidays. He is excited to take Owen trick or treating with him.

Hopefully we will get to the pumpkin patch either this weekend or next to get a pumpkin to carve and get the boys pumpkins. I'm sure time is just going to fly by from Halloween to Christmas. We seem to stay pretty busy most weeks so adding in holiday stuff will just add to that. But I can't wait for Christmas this year. Aunt Gini is getting Owen's ornament today so he has one that matches the rest of our family ornaments. So exciting to have 2 kids in the house for the holidays now!

Silly Owen

I finally got around to uploading videos of Owen. Most of them I take on my phone but I have been trying to make sure I get some with the camera too.

Owen has been so laughy lately, he thinks the most random things are funny, being upside down, me saying momma at him over and over, and of course Jacob.

5 months

Baby dude is already 5 months old! That is so crazy! He is growing so fast. This has been a fun month though. He is moving around, he can turn in a complete circle on his belly, he is rolling back to belly and belly to back both directions, he can roll, turn and scoot to make progress towards something he wants. He can sit up for short periods of time on his own. And he is playing more with toys and with Jake. He is still all over with sleeping and still sleeps in our room and half the night in our bed. He does take his morning nap in the crib but doesn't sleep really long so he naps in the swing in the afternoon. He is still very much a momma's boy and I love it, but he loves playing with Josh for a while now too. And of course, still can't get enough of Jake. When Jake is playing and Owen is in the exersaucer or on the floor he follows him around and just watches him. I love watching them together. I am amazed at how easily we have transitioned into life as a family of four and how perfectly our baby dude fits in, in just 5 months.

All About Owen. By Jake

Owen is a baby. He plays with his stuff. When he gets bigger he can play with my Legos. When he gets bigger he can play with me forever and play outside and play in my sandbox and make big sand castles with me. He will get presents for Christmas and he will get teeth. He gets to play with everything for my stuff. Owen is sleeping. Owen likes to sit next to me in my chair in my lap. He likes to play in the big round swing and sleeps in there. He likes the bumbo and the play mat and the bouncy seat and the saucer. And he likes Santa. And me too! The end.
